Oil prices fell Monday as the U.S. dollar rose and the energy market's focus shifted back to the global oversupply of crude.

U.S. oil prices rose to a new 2015 high Wednesday after U.S. data showed stronger-than-expected demand for crude oil and gasoline. Prices have wavered in recent weeks, pivoting around $60 a barrel.

A two-day run up in crude oil prices was halted on Friday as prices fell more than 1% amid a rallying dollar and profit-taking by investors ahead of the long Memorial Day weekend holiday in the United States.

Oil prices slumped Tuesday in the latest sign that the recent rally in crude prices may have peaked.

Oil prices wavered between gains and losses Monday as tensions in the Middle East ratcheted up, while Saudi Arabia posted its highest level of monthly exports in nearly 10 years.
