Thousands of workers remain on strike across the United States demanding higher pay and better conditions despite Hollywood make-up artists and camera operators reaching a deal over the weekend to avoid a walkout, and the tight jobs market has only emboldened them.

Sources familiar with the situation told The Verge that Janneke Parrish, a program manager on Apple Maps, was terminated for "non-compliance" after deleting files off of her work devices during an internal investigation. The files reportedly included apps like Robinhood, Pokémon GO, and Google Drive.

4.3 million workers are missing. Where did they go?

More than a year and a half into the pandemic, the U.S. is still missing around 4.3 million workers. Many have dropped out of the workforce permanently, leading the labor force participation rate to drop.
