The average interest rate for America's most common home loan has reached a high not seen in more than 10 years, Freddie Mac said Thursday.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage sits at 5%, up from 4.72% last week, according to the mortgage-lending giant's latest weekly Primary Mortgage Market Survey. At this time last year, the average was at 3.04%.

Peloton announced on Thursday that it's increasing the price of its all-access membership across North America while simultaneously lowering equipment costs.
Starting June 1, the price of the monthly membership fee will increase to $44 from $39 for all U.S. customers and to $55 from $49 in Canada.
This is the first time Peloton has increased the price of its membership in eight years, according to an announcement on the company's website.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter for $54.20 per share and take the social media company private.
Musk said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it is his "best and final offer," and that if it was not accepted he’d have to reconsider his position as a shareholder.

Gold was lower on Thursday, but prices were heading for a second consecutive weekly gain. The Ukraine crisis and broadening inflationary pressures lifted the metal's appeal. U.S. gold futures were at $1,987. The metal has gained about 1.7% so far in the week, according to Reuters. Markets will be closed for Good Friday.
Gas prices (AAA)
The average price for a gallon of gasoline in the U.S. slipped on Thursday to $4.074, according to the latest numbers from AAA. The price on Wednesday was $4.083. The previous record high was $4.33, set on Friday March 11, 2022.
