Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg will not answer questions from British lawmakers over a scandal in which the social media network let millions of users' data get into the hands of political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.

The social media maven’s departure is the latest celebrity setback for the company.

The news comes after Facebook announced that British political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica may have misused the data of about 50 million users to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The U.S. auto parts retailer joins internet company Mozilla Corp., which also suspended its ads last week amid data privacy concerns.

The changes come amid allegations that the British consultancy Cambridge Analytica improperly gained access to Facebook users' information to build profiles of American voters that were later used to help elect U.S. President Donald Trump in 2016.
