President Biden on Thursday defended his soak-the-rich tax proposal, maintaining that America's highest-earners will keep their vacation homes and private jets despite the new levies.

President Biden is continuing to hit the trail this week to drum up support among the American people for his $4 trillion spending proposals designed to redistribute trillions and dramatically expand the government-funded social safety net. 

Amtrak is proposing up to 30 new routes, as well as extensions on up to 20 existing routes and daily trips in 15 more states by 2035 as part of President Biden's $2.5 trillion infrastructure plan.

The $2.25 trillion proposal, dubbed the American Jobs Plan and aimed at boosting infrastructure among many other projects, would be financed by raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., praised President Biden's priority on childcare as she pushed to include her universal day care proposal into the next round of infrastructure spending.

The earnings parade rolls on this week as dozens of names including Tesla, Microsoft, Alphabet, Apple, Amazon and Facebook are set to report.

Republicans have responded to President Biden's $2 trillion-plus infrastructure plan with a narrower proposal that would cost roughly $650 billion, and while there is a wide gap between the two sides, one Republican senator gave reason for optimism.

A group of moderate Senate Republicans on Thursday unveiled a scaled-back infrastructure proposal, a counteroffer to the massive $2.3 trillion tax and spending plan introduced by President Biden earlier this month.
