With the extension, United has canceled flights involving the aircraft for the longest period of any U.S. airline that has the 737 Max in its fleet.

The 737 MAX would need to be re-certified and pilots given comprehensive and effective training before it could fly in China, he reiterated.

The airline said it intends to share the proceeds of the $125 million agreement with its employees.

"I had grown gravely concerned," the whistleblower said.

The FAA reportedly predicted up to 15 accidents like the fatal Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines crashes over the next 45 years.

Others set to appear include a former Boeing employee who raised concerns about 737 production and a former FAA employee.

Boeing lost 84 more orders than it won in the first 11 months of the year.

The warning came four months prior to a Lion Air Max jet crash off the coast of Indonesia killing 189 people.
