United Airlines said it is permanently ending flight change fees for most domestic tickets, the latest effort to boost demand in an air-travel industry hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

"It’s important to note that our numbers are based on the current travel demand for the remainder of the year and our anticipated flying schedule, which continues to be fluid with the resurgence of COVID-19 in regions across the U.S.," United's senior vice president of operations Bryan Quigley wrote in a memo to employees.

As of July 24, passengers will have to cover up while at United customer service counters and kiosks, United Club locations, United's gates and baggage claim areas, the airline said.
