Trish Regan: Hey Dems! Here's a Hamilton quote Schiff ought to heed

'I have thought it my duty to exhibit things as they are, not as they ought to be,' Alexander Hamilton once said

No witnesses. The Democrats don’t have the votes. It’s time for America to shut the door on Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif, — and close the book on impeachment.

So much for Schiff's performance at the trial. So much for the left’s big brilliant intellectual “hero." It’s time the media stop listening to a guy who’s auditioning for a community musical production of Hamilton.

TRISH REGAN: JOHN BOLTON NOW A 'HERO' TO DEMOCRATS

Just for good measure, I want to share with you a Hamilton quote of my own, one that Schiff ought to heed:

Alexander Hamilton once said: "I have thought it my duty to exhibit things as they are, not as they ought to be."

Get it?

“As they are ... ” not as the Democrats and Schiff think they ought to be. Things are “as they are." The original transcript provided everything we need to know.

VARNEY: HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A DEMOCRAT SCORNED

And, for those still in doubt? Ambassador Gordon Sondland was pretty clear. He told the House that President Trump said, "I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo."

Meanwhile, as Hamilton said, there’s one person, along with Schiff, who really ought to heed that Hamilton quote - we must exhibit things as they are, that it’s one’s duty to tell the truth. Former National Security Council head John Bolton apparently thinks he too should be in control of what he thinks the world ought to be.

STEVE BANNON: IMPEACHMENT GOES FROM 'SHAM TO ABSOLUTE FARCE'

John Bolton told Judge Andrew Napolitano in 2010 he wouldn't lie for our country knowingly, but that he "certainly [is] able to spin things and [he] think[s] a good diplomat is able to spin things just like American politicians."

Why do all the elites think they can lie for the sake of some greater good?

The good news is: Schiff is done ... for now. And, Bolton is not going to be able to spin things for the Senate because the Senate doesn’t have the votes.

That said, don’t infer that the Democrats are off the warpath. Anything but. Be ready, America, for impeachment 2.0. Already, we have evidence of Democrats changing their tack. They're now proclaiming the president will “cheat” in the next election.

Some advice for the Democrats: Please focus on the stuff that matters to people. Find a way to ensure a better economic future for your constituents. Pretend you care about actual Americans rather than illegals you want to bring here to live off the middle class.

The Democrats have no message for 2020. As such, get ready for another impeachment attempt; they’re already setting the stage.
