Change in the Air on Capitol Hill?

Two bombshells from Rick Santorum, former Republican senator from Pennsylvania, on Varney & Co. today!

"Not only is he [President Obama] going to meet us [Republicans] on taxes, but he's going to meet us on spending."

Why is Santorum so optimistic about the President making such fiscally conservative concessions? He sees big changes on Capitol Hill come the November mid-term elections.

"The Republicans will make major gains, particularly taking the House of Representatives, and making major gains in the Senate." Santorum said that if the Republicans make big gains in the House and the Senate, the President will have to do something to convince the American public that he can govern. "He [President Obama] is going to have some signature proposal where he can show that he is meeting Republicans halfway."
