Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) to the rescue! The stock saw its biggest gain in five months Wednesday, the day after it announced new gadgets. Apple is the biggest stock in the NASDAQ and S&P, helping to push those indices higher yesterday, as the Dow industrials rose 55 points. Meanwhile, oil prices are falling in early Thursday trade, touching yearly lows. Meanwhile, the Mortgage Bankers Association says mortgage applications fell 7.2% last week, the lowest level in about 14 years. An alert for Gmail users: Nearly 5 million usernames and passwords have reportedly been leaked on a Russian forum. Google reassures us its system was not compromised, and much of the information posted looks invalid. Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) is now testing messages that disappear between an hour and a week. The experiment is not Facebook’s first attempt at self-destructing posts. It tried to buy Snapchat last year. But unlike that service, Facebook will keep removed posts on its back-servers for up to a month and a half. Are you ready to McBrunch? That's the term that McDonald's has filed a trademark registration for. It doesn't mean that Mickey D's plans on even testing brunch, but it does show it is at least thinking of it.
