Netflix Launches App for iPhone, iPod Touch
Movie-subscription service Netflix (NYSE:NFLX) has launched an app compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch to allow subscribers to stream movies instantly on handheld devices.
The applications, available via the Apple (NYSE:APPL) iTunes store, is free for subscribers of Netflix plans that cost $8.99 and up, including streaming video and mailed DVDs.
Netflix inked a deal in early August with Epix TV channel to become the only Web-based distributor of Paramount, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Lions Gate movies. Those movies will be available via the new app.
The company released an iPad version of the app back in April.
