Merkel Confident Germany Will Support Greece
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Tuesday she is confident Germany will support Greece and that she wants the country to remain in the eurozone.
Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, who spent the day meeting with Merkel, said he was ready to lead Greece toward economic stability and that targets laid out by the European Union, International Monetary Fund and European Central Bank will not be changed.
Earlier in the day, the Greek parliament reportedly passed a measure to implement a new property tax.
