Dave Chappelle has been working in the entertainment world for decades, writing and acting in movies and TV shows, appearing on stage as a stand-up comedian and even producing his own stand-up specials.

Chappelle’s net worth is estimated at $50 million, according to celebritynetworth.com.

He started in stand-up comedy as a teen, and by 1993 Chappelle had his first movie role in “Robin Hood: Men in Tights.” Throughout the ‘90s, he had several small roles in shows like “Home Improvement” and movies including “The Nutty Professor” and “Con Air.” In 1996, he starred in one season of the ABC comedy “Buddies.”

In 1998, Chappelle saw his breakout year. He wrote and starred in the movie “Half Baked,” which grossed $17.5 million, and recorded a popular HBO stand-up special.

Chappelle is probably best known for “Chappelle’s Show,” his Comedy Central sketch series which ran from 2003 to 2004 and returned for a final season of “lost episodes” in 2006 after Chappelle disappeared from production. Chappelle walked out on the show and a $50 million contract to decompress in South Africa, he told Oprah Winfrey in a 2006 interview.

It was close to a decade before Chappelle began performing regularly again. In 2015, he appeared in the Spike Lee movie “Chi-Raq.”

Netflix announced in 2016 that it had signed a $60 million contract with Chappelle for three stand-up specials. They, along with a fourth special, were all released in 2017. The next year, Chappelle appeared in Bradley Cooper’s “A Star is Born” remake.

DAVE CHAPPELLE MAKES LIST OF HIGHEST-PAID COMEDIANS

Forbes reported that Chappelle earned $35 million in 2018, making him one of the 10 highest-paid comedians and 100 highest-paid celebrities that year.

Chappelle released a fifth Netflix special in 2019. It attracted criticism for jokes he made about controversial subjects, but the album of the performance still hit No. 4 on Billboard’s Comedy Albums chart.
