Hamburg 1988’s ‘Lovesexy Tour’-- that’s when 80’s pop star Taylor Dayne first met music legend Prince.
“His brother came up to us at the concert and he said please come to an after party at a concert he’s doing after the show… We were heading into the loo and we see these pants coming down and it says love and it says sexy, he’s standing right in front of me on the way to the bathroom. He goes, ‘What’s your name?’ I said ‘Taylor,’ he goes ‘Taylor what?’ I said, ‘Dayne’ and he goes ‘Taylor Dayne I’ve been wanting to meet you for a long time,’” she told the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney.
Prince then invited the Billboard chart-topping singer on stage.
“That’s how it all began. Two weeks later I was in Paisley Park. At the studio, at the house, having a party,” she said.
Dayne then discussed Prince’s impact on music.
“Over all these 30 years of now me being an active artist of watching him time and time again… and the way this man was just continually pushing his boundaries. He was an unexhausted musician and an inspiring and of course the music itself… it is what artists are truly about,” she said.
