Is the Summer Blockbuster Dead?
Memorial Day unofficially kicks off the summer movie season and typically helps give a bump at the box office. So, how will the 2016 season stack up?
FOXBusiness.com caught up with IMAX Inc. (NYSE:IMAX) CEO Rich Gelfond, who helped score ticket sales so far as well as what moviegoers can expect.
“I think you are going to see a lot of momentum throughout the year. Two thousand and sixteen is looking much better than people thought” says Gelfond.
But with so many options like Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), Hulu and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), are people really going to the theater?
“I think IMAX gets eyeballs in because people want to leave their living rooms, and they want to do something special; We are social animals ” Gelfond says.
