ExxonMobil Moving Some Employees to New Houston Facility

ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) on Wednesday announced it will be moving employees from its facilities in Virginia and Ohio to its campus currently under construction in Houston, in an effort to centralize its workforce.

The move will affect employees in Exxon’s Fairfax, Virginia, and Akron, Ohio, offices as well as some employees in the Baytown refinery complex near Houston.

The new campus, which is expected to accommodate about 10,000 employees upon completion, will have office buildings and training centers as well as employee amenities such as child care and a wellness center, according to the company.

“Including additional employees on the new campus will provide even more opportunities for collaboration and innovation, supporting ExxonMobil’s mission of delivering energy to meet growing global needs,” said Bryan Milton, president of ExxonMobil’s global services business, in a statement.

ExxonMobil began constructing the campus in 2011 and says it expects employees to start moving to the facility in early 2014. It expects the campus to be fully occupied by 2015.

ExxonMobil shares ended Wednesday’s trading session up 3.3% at $80.18.
