FDA Oks Pricey New Cholesterol Drug For Certain Patients
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday approved Regeneron (NASDAQ:REGN)/Sanofi's (NYSE:SNY) drug Praluent for use in select patients with high cholesterol. 1 in every 3 U.S. adults suffers from so-called bad cholesterol, also known as LDL (low-density lipoprotein), according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Praluent is among a new class of drugs believed to dramatically reduce cholesterol levels.
