Farmers and manufacturers welcome the "Phase One" trade deal, but say the fight to end the trade war must go on

Reducing a trade imbalance of more than $300 billion between the U.S. and China was one of the cornerstones of President Trump’s first campaign.

“Let’s call it a deal-making December — shifting the world’s trading patterns,” Stuart Varney said.

The initial pact includes stronger intellectual-property protections and promises by China to purchase $50 billion of U.S. agriculture and end its currency manipulation.

The phase one agreement further deescalates the 21-month-long trade war.
