Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by House Republicans
A group of 18 House Republicans have nominated President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to thaw the Korean peninsula.
Indiana Congressman Luke Messer sent a letter to the Norwegian Nobel committee crediting the president for getting North Korea to agree to historic concessions and bring peace to the region.
“The only reason that the evil North Korean dictator has come to the table is because this president stood up to him and stared him down both with sanctions and with his Twitter diplomacy,” Messer told FOX Business’ Charles Payne on Tuesday.
Last week, Kim Jong Un became the first North Korean leader to visit the South since the Korean War. The dictator met with South Korea's President Moon Jae-In to denuclearize the peninsula.
“It would have been unimaginable just a few weeks ago that the North Korean and South Korean leaders would even be talking let alone embracing in public,” Messer said.
The Indiana Congressman calls the recent events in the Korean peninsula extraordinary and inspired by Trump’s leadership.
“Don’t bet against this president,” Messer said on FOX Business’ “Making Money.” “Whether it’s growing the economy or peace on the Korean peninsula, he continues to deliver beyond what many could have ever expected.”
