Trish Regan: Adam Schiff's impeachment trial is a snooze-fest

People don't like Schiff, if they even know him

The mainstream media in an uproar because some senators dared to get a little restless during Rep. Adam Schiff’s three-hour snooze-fest on Wednesday.

Can you blame them? I’d like the members of the media to have tried to sit through three hours of opening argument without the luxury of so much as a cup of coffee to get you through Schiff’s theatrical audition for a bad community musical.

As the now-notorious Schiff made it clear, he doesn't trust the American people to get it right at the ballot box. Impeachment, he says, is the only course of action.

He went on, and on, and on, and on - and somehow CNN and MSNBC think this is supposed to be like, what, gospel?

TRISH REGAN: TRUMP'S IMPEACHMENT IS A SHAM THAT'S BAD FOR THE COUNTRY

You have folks in the mainstream media touting Schiff's opening argument as being "great," "powerful" and "dazzling." Hey, it was a boring show by a self-important, boring performer who's prone to a lot more than poetic license.

Remember when Schiff wrongfully claimed neither he nor his office spoke directly with the whistleblower? Or how about when he tried to get his star witness, Ambassador Gordon Sondland, to say there was quid pro quo — which Sondland said there wasn't.

Meanwhile, senators are being bombarded with the never-ending talker who thinks he’s auditioning for the main part in Hamilton. Schiff referenced Alexander Hamilton at least seven times on Wednesday.

All the theatrics became a kind of torture for restless senators, but the liberal media said suffer through it or else.

Here’s the problem for the Democrats: They need a Dale Carnegie course. They need to be able to win friends and influence people. Instead, all they do is alienate. Why not put someone substantive and credible up? The only people that actually like Schiff are media hacks.

Believe me, if these guys are impressed, you’re definitely doing something wrong.

VARNEY: HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A DEMOCRAT SCORNED

Meanwhile, he's reminding America that we're not good enough. No, because America was - in his view - deplorable enough to elect President Trump in the first place and in his delusional world, he claims Trump will use the powers of the presidency to cheat in an election.

Already, he's trying to set the stage. Already, he's trying to plan for another Trump win. Unbelievable.

But the fact that Schiff is as good as it gets? That tells me this whole case is a sham without a leg to stand on, and they know it.

STEVE BANNON: IMPEACHMENT GOES FROM 'SHAM TO ABSOLUTE FARCE'

So, instead of arguing substance, they put on a show. Only problem? They’ve got bad casting directors. The last person they ever should have put in that prosecutorial role was Schiff. People don’t like him, that’s if they even know him. Remember when not a single "Jeopardy" contestant was able to identify Schiff?

There’s nothing about him that resonates with truth and honor. And to convince about six senators that might be on the fence? You need a standup guy or gal. Not a poser. So, good luck Democrats.

I’ll remind you of your score thus far: 0-for-11.
