Republicans: Talks With Obama Were Productive
U.S. Republicans said on Wednesday they had a frank and productive conversation with President Barack Obama during a meeting on the deficit and debt at the White House.
"I told the president: this is the moment, this is the window of opportunity ... we can work together and solve this problem," said House Speaker John Boehner, the No. 1 Republican in the House of Representatives.
Boehner spoke to reporters in the White House driveway after the meeting between the Democratic president and House Republicans over a political standoff about raising the country's $14.3 trillion debt ceiling.
