Acting ICE Director on opposition from sanctuary cities

Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan on the challenges to the agency from local officials in sanctuary cities such as San Francisco.

Nearly a week ago, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., slammed a four-day ICE raid as “unjust and cruel,” but acting Director Thomas Homan said it led to the arrest and removal of many illegal immigrants with criminal convictions.

“The people we arrested during this California operation -- [who have committed] lascivious acts with a juvenile, assault with deadly weapons, murder — these people were terrorizing immigrant communities,” Homan said to FOX Business’ Stuart Varney on “Varney & Co.”

Pelosi has repeatedly called Trump’s enforcement efforts “cowardly,” and blamed ICE for terrorizing immigrant communities, however, Homan said agents are just protecting Americans.

“These are men and women that put their lives on the line for this country every day. They strap a gun to their hip and leave the safety and security of their homes to defend this nation,” he said.  “So how dare you call them cowardly?”
