Huckabee: We Turned $120B Checkbook Over to Terrorists
In an interview with FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee responded to President Obama’s comments regarding his criticism of the Iran deal.
“Well you know what’s ridiculous and sad is that the president went to the Iranians and thought he could make a deal with a bunch of people who for 36 years have been threatening to wipe Israel off the face of the map -- and for all this time has chanted ‘death to America.’ Even after sitting at the negotiation table. That’s what’s ridiculous,” he said
While President Obama says “99% of the world community” likes this deal, Huckabee says such comments are “hyperbolic.”
“This is a dangerous deal. I read the whole thing and the more I read, the more I thought I’m surely going to get to the good parts. The parts that get me some comfort -- it only got worse. We basically just turned [a] $120 billion checkbook over to a bunch of terrorists, and I don’t know why in the world the president would be so proud to put his name on this deal,” he said.
Huckabee defended his comments that compared the Holocaust to the Iran deal.
“They need to understand why I use that imagery. Because it’s the imagery that the Iranians have used. Their official government tweet said, ‘We have developed the missiles that will replace Israel with another Holocaust,’ their words. Their president has said that ‘It’s great that we have all the Jews assembled in one place because now we don’t have to hunt them down,’” he said.
Huckabee said capitalizing on the U.S. energy industry is an alternative to the nuke deal.
“We don’t have to necessarily bomb the Iranians, we need to bankrupt the Iranians. We need to make their government unprofitable,” he said.
