HD's Langone Backs Kasich as Prez, But Says Bloomberg Would be Superb
During an interview with the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, Home Depot (NYSE:HD) Co-Founder Kenneth Langone discussed politics and current events, and explained why he’s backing Governor John Kasich.
“I’ve known John a long time. I knew him when he ran the budget committee in congress and of course I’ve stayed on top of all the good things he’s done. Ohio has been a state that has really, really shown a dramatic recovery and I think not all of it, but a lot of it is his leadership,” Langone said.
“I think [we’re] at a point in time when America desperately needs to figure out how to get our economy going, because right now at best it’s sputtering. I think John Kasich will approach many of our ills.”
He also discussed the sparring match between the Pope and Donald Trump and the controversy that arose when the Pope said “building a wall is not a Christian thing” to do.
“Building a wall doesn’t mean that Donald Trump is not a Christian and I think there’s the play on words right there. Remember the old saying “God loves sinners and he hates sin.” I think to say that Donald Trump is not a Christian is wrong, absolutely just flat out wrong,” Langone noted.
He also shared his view when asked about Mike Bloomberg potentially entering the race for President of the United States.
“I don’t know, that’s a good question. I’ve heard Mike say many times, why he couldn’t win and everybody has. Look, Mike did a superb job as a Mayor and Mike, I think, would do a superb job as president. Every day he waits, if he’s thinking about it, it’s one more day less likely he will have a chance.”
