Varney: Iowa caucus chaos makes Mike Bloomberg stronger

Democrats have run the Iowa caucuses 'into the ground'

Democrats have run the Iowa caucuses into the ground as their penchant for big government has brought bureaucratic chaos and failure to the election, FOX Business’ Stuart Varney argued in his latest “My Take.”

Democrats changed the rules for the 2020 caucuses. Each of the 1,681 caucus sites was required to report first-choice votes, second choice votes and their delegate count, according to Varney who added that the system was “very complicated.”

IOWA CAUCUS CHAOS LINKED TO APP STARTED BY CLINTON CAMPAIGN VETERANS

The party created an app to report their numbers, but it did not work right, he said. Varney argued chaos ensued when attempts to report by phone ended in failure.

“The president jumped on it, tweeting ‘the Democrats’ caucus is an unmitigated disaster. Nothing works, just like they ran the country. Remember the $5 billion Obamacare website’ and he’s right. Big government Democrats created a bureaucratic nightmare in health care,” Varney said.

TRUMP’S STATE OF THE UNION TO HIGHLIGHT ECONOMIC RECORD, TRADE DEALS

Bureaucracy runs in the Democratic bloodstream, he argued. The “Iowa mess” reveals more that is wrong with the party—laying bare the total split, Varney added.

“It’s the establishment versus Bernie. He was badly treated last time around, so he demanded the rule changes that have screwed everything up. The changes didn’t deliver fairness, just a deeper split and more chaos,” he said.

Caucuses in Iowa are supposed to sort out the pack as primary season begins, but it has done the opposite, Varney argued. There is no clarity in the 2020 Democratic field and none of the candidates has momentum which, if anything, makes the $60 billion man Michael Bloomberg stronger, he added.

“All of this comes on top of the impeachment debacle, the booming Trump economy, successful trade deals and prompt and thorough response to the coronavirus. The president is on a roll and the Democrats can’t get out of the starting gate,” Varney concluded.
