Valero Ready to Ship Gas, Diesel to Japan

Valero (NYSE:VLO) said Tuesday it was ready to supply refined products, such as gasoline and diesel, from its U.S. West Coast refineries to Japan in the wake of last week's earthquake and resulting tsunami.

"Valero is standing by to respond to requests for assistance from Japanese authorities," said a company spokesman.

He said that traders anticipate increased demand for refined products from the West Coast, but Valero hasn't seen any big cargoes move toward Japan yet.
