US Postal Service says its email system is down nationwide, as are some services

A network outage has disrupted some services at the U.S. Postal Service, including package handling at some local post offices.

Postal Service email is down, as is the scanning of some packages.

Agency spokeswoman Toni DeLancey says regular mail processing and delivery have not been affected.

She says the outage first occurred Thursday afternoon and workers are trying to fix the problem and restore all service as soon as possible.

DeLancey says this was a technical problem and not due to any hacking or cyber intrusion.
