U.S. Stocks Step Higher At The Open; FedEx Jumps 3%

U.S. stocks stepped higher at the open Tuesday, building on gains scored in the previous session. No top-tier economic reports are scheduled, but mergers-and-acquisitions news has been sparking market moves, as FedEx Corp. shares jumped 3% after the shipping giant said it would buy a Dutch logistics company. The S&P 500 was last up 4 points, or 0.2%, to 2,085, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 56 points, or 0.3%, to 17,940. Read the full story here.
