U.S. Stocks Step Higher At The Open; FedEx Jumps 3%

U.S. stocks stepped higher at the open Tuesday, building on gains scored in the previous session. No top-tier economic reports are scheduled, but mergers-and-acquisitions news has been sparking market moves, as FedEx Corp. shares jumped 3% after the shipping giant said it would buy a Dutch logistics company.
