Trump Tweets Desire For a Shutdown In September
In a pair of tweets, President Donald Trump lamented the blocking ability of Democrats in the Senate as he called for a government shutdown in September. "The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there! We either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good "shutdown" in September to fix mess!" The government's fiscal year ends in September, as Congress is expected to vote Wednesday to keep the government open by voting for a spending bill.
