Tesla Opens Higher As Musk's Tweets Lift Stock

Tesla Motors Inc. shares rose nearly 4% at the open Tuesday. Earlier, CEO Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla sales numbers in a The Wall Street Journal report over the weekend were "incorrect" and September sales were at a record high globally and 65% up year-over-year in North America. Tesla over the weekend announced lower lease rates and a 90-day refund policy. In a separate tweet, Musk said the lower lease rates are not a "discount" and revenue to Tesla "is unchanged."
