Target To Open 15 Stores This Year, Including TargetExpress In D.C. And Chicago
Target Corp. said on Monday that it plans to open 15 stores this year, including eight of its smaller-format TargetExpress stores and one CityTarget. The company said the openings include one TargetExpress in Washington, D.C. and one in Chicago, in addition to its previously announced openings of a 20,000 square-foot TargetExpress in San Francisco, San Diego and St. Paul, Minn. Target opened its first TargetExpress last year in its home town of Minneapolis. The company will open its first East Coast CityTarget in Boston. The format was first introduced in 2012 and typically is about 80,000 to 160,000 square foot. A Brooklyn, New York location will open next year. Target dropped 0.5% in early afternoon trading.
