Symantec Sets Plan To Split Into Two Companies

Symantec Corp. said late Thursday that the security software maker will split into two separate, publicly traded companies. Symantec said one company will focus on security, with the other dedicated to information management technologies. Michael Brown, Symantec's chief executive, will remain as CEO and president of the security company, which will retain the Symantec name. John Gannon will be general manager of the new information management business. Symantec expects the split to be completed by December 2015.
