Stocks open mostly lower, led by energy stocks as the price of oil falls again

U.S. stocks are opening lower, led by declines in energy companies as the price of oil takes another turn lower.

Chevron and Exxon Mobil were among the biggest decliners in the Dow Jones industrial average in the first few minutes of trading Wednesday.

The Dow was down 46 points, or 0.3 percent, to 17,822 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index slipped two points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,066. The Nasdaq composite edged up three points, or 0.1 percent, to 4,791.

The price of oil fell 70 cents to $49.33 a barrel in New York. Oil has been on a bumpy ride in recent months. It has lost more than half its value since last June as supplies increased and demand decreases.
