Staten Island Ferry service to expand, eventually run every half hour around the clock
The Staten Island Ferry will soon run every half hour around the clock.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday that the city was committed to bringing better transit service to parts of the city that have long gone underserved.
Beginning May 1, the city will add six round trips — one each on Saturday, Sunday and Monday night and three on Sunday morning.
The city says it will eventually have full 30-minute service seven days a week.
About 65,000 passengers ride the ferry daily between Lower Manhattan and Staten Island.
