Small Caps Outperfroming Large Caps So Far In 2015

The Russell 2000 index is on track Thursday to close at a record level for the fourth time this year. It was recently up 2 points, or 0.2%, at 1,229. The small-cap index has so far this year outperformed the main U.S. stock-market benchmark, the S&P 500, gaining more than 2% since the start of the year, compared with a 1.9% gain for the larger-capitalization stocks. The index is finally seeing modest inflows, according to EPFR, after a turbulent 2014, when the benchmark suffered pullbacks and underperformed large caps by nearly eight percentage points.
