Settlement Reached in Supermarket Chain Feud

Trucks have started making deliveries to a New England supermarket chain just hours after it was announced that the chain's former CEO, whose ouster led to worker walkouts and customer boycotts, had completed a $1.5 billion deal to buy the company.

Tractor-trailers bearing the company's Market Basket logo laden with the tons of food it will take to restock the chain's 71 stores in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, as well as vendor vehicles, pulled up to loading docks before business Thursday. That follows the announcement late Wednesday that Arthur T. Demoulas had bought shares of the company owned by the rival family faction, led by cousin Arthur S. Demoulas.

The six-week standoff had prompted intervention by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan, who in a joint statement said they were delighted.
