Roger Ailes Receives Award for Excellence in Journalism

Roger Ailes, chairman of FOX News, received the John Regan “Tex” McCrary Award for Excellence in Journalism Saturday, honoring what the Congressional Medal of Honor Society calls his impact on journalism and patriotism.

The award was given during the society’s annual convention in Louisville, Ky. Ailes, who has run FOX News since 1996, was recognized for his “distinguished service, excellence, and unbiased news coverage of the United States military in peace and war,” the society said.

Also receiving awards at the group’s annual Patriot Awards Dinner were country music singer Trace Adkins, who received the Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment, and businessman Ted Bassett III, who received the Distinguished Citizen Award.

Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader, also received the Patriot Award, which recognizes people who “through their life’s work have distinguished themselves as Americans dedicated to freedom and ideals represented by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society,” the group said.
