Owens Corning Inspires Home Construction Rally

Shares of Owens Corning (NYSE:OC) surged nearly 13% on Wednesday, their biggest gain since April 2009 at the start of the bull market.

The construction supply company blew the doors off earnings and revenue estimates on home-builder demand for roofing and insulation products. It was a similar story for coatings and paint-maker Valspar (NYSE:VAL), which also beat on top and bottom-line forecasts this earnings season.
