Obama announces foundation to take up his campaign to help minority young men

President Barack Obama is helping to launch a foundation that will assist minority young men by improving education, training and job placement. The effort comes a week after unrest erupted in Baltimore following the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody.

During Monday's announcement Obama met with a group of young people who credited mentors for helping overcome obstacles.

Obama says: "The future will be in good hands as long as we are giving them the love and the support that they need."

The new organization, My Brother's Keeper Alliance, is an outgrowth of a year-old Obama task force.

Plans for the nonprofit foundation predate Baltimore's rioting. But its significance has been magnified by the spotlight the city's tensions placed on low-income neighborhoods.
