Nordstrom fires worker over Facebook post suggesting killing police for black men's deaths

Nordstrom department store has fired an African-American sales associate who made a statement about killing police on his Facebook page.

Aaron Hodges of Portland suggested killing a white officer for every black man killed by police. A screen grab of his comment quickly circulated online, leading many complaints to Nordstrom.

Hodges said Tuesday that he made the comment in an exchange with a friend from high school. According to Hodges, he says outrageous things to "bring things into scope" and he didn't literally mean that officers should be killed.

The 37-year-old says he understands why Nordstrom fired him. What he doesn't understand is why someone would take a screenshot of his comment and send it to his employer.

Nordstrom spokeswoman Tara Darrow says the company doesn't tolerate threats of any kind.
