New Hampshire unemployment rate down slightly for October

The New Hampshire Employment Security office says the state's unemployment rate for October was 4.2 percent, down a tenth of a percentage point from September.

In October 2013, the seasonally adjusted rate for New Hampshire was 5.2 percent.

Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for October was 5.8 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from September, and a decrease of 1.4 percentage points from the October 2013 rate.

In New Hampshire, seasonally adjusted estimates for October placed the number of employed residents at 708,980, an increase of 2,090 from the previous month and an increase of 6,680 from October 2013.

The number of unemployed residents decreased by 1,300 over the month to 30,840. This was 7,850 fewer unemployed than in September 2013.
