New Hampshire, national unemployment rates down for September

The New Hampshire Employment Security office says the state's unemployment rate for September was 4.3 percent, down a tenth of a percentage point from August.

In September 2013, the seasonally adjusted rate for New Hampshire was 5.2 percent.

Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September was 5.9 percent, a decrease of 0.2 percentage point from August, and a decrease of 1.3 percentage points from the September 2013 rate.

In New Hampshire, seasonally adjusted estimates for September placed the number of employed residents at 706,880, a decrease of 790 from the previous month and an increase of 4,760 from September 2013.

The number of unemployed residents decreased by 570 over the month to 32,150. This was 1,980 fewer unemployed than in September 2013.
