Longtime reporter, editor, author at Daily Jeffersonian in Cambridge, Ohio, dies at 85

Jerry Wolfrom, a retired editor at The Daily Jeffersonian whose journalism career spanned five decades and included about 4,000 columns, has died at age 85.

Wolfrom was a marketing analyst for Marathon Oil for 10 years before attending Bowling Green State University to study journalism. He was a reporter at The Courier in Findlay, the Reynoldsburg Record and the Easton Maryland Star-Democrat before joining the Daily Jeffersonian staff in 1962.

Wolfrom retired in 1992 after stints as reporter and sports, city and managing editor, then briefly returned as acting general manager and later the paper's ombudsman. He continued to write twice-weekly columns until his death.

After retirement he also worked for the Fort Myers, Florida, News-Press and as a magazine travel writer. Wolfrom's columns were collected in five books.
