Lawsuit: After receiving creepy letters from 'The Watcher,' family flees home and sues
A New Jersey couple who says they were scared away from a home after receiving creepy letters has sued the sellers, an insurance company and a settlement company.
Derek and Maria Broaddus say the writer signs the letters as "The Watcher."
They bought the house in Westfield, 25 miles west of New York City, for nearly $1.4 million.
They say the former owners should have warned them about a letter they received from the person who claimed they rightfully owned the home.
The lawsuit says the same letter writer sent the new owners a series of letters starting the day after they bought it. The couple says they refused to move into the home out of safety concerns for them and their three children.
