Know Before the Bell: Oil, Samsung and Your Expensive Breakfast
The cost of breakfast is going up, and Samsung is on the verge of going virtual.
We’re watching oil prices today. They’ve been down nine straight sessions, as worries over the turmoil in the Middle East begin to subside. That’s pushing gas prices lower, too. The national average for a gallon of gasoline sits at $3.64. Gas prices have fallen every day this month, and Gas Buddy says they could drop another 25 cents by August.
On Wall Street, stock futures this morning are pointing sharply lower. European stocks are at two-month low today amid weak data on Italian and French industrial production.
Samsung is getting in on virtual reality. The electronics giant is reportedly unveiling a virtual-reality headset in September called Gear VR. It’s expected to be used for gaming.
Like most things, breakfast is more expensive. Egg prices are up 33%, while bacon is up 65%. Coffee prices have spiked 40% in the past five years. The only thing that costs less: The toast.
What else is spiking? Tickets for the World Cup final between Argentina and Germany. They could fetch more than $20,000 on the re-sale market.
