ISM Manufacturing Index Slows To 53.5%, Worst Level In a Year

The Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index slowed to a reading of 53.5% in January from 55.1% in December, to mark the worst performance in a year. Economists polled by MarketWatch had expected a reading of 55%. Any reading above 50% indicates expansion.
