EU suspects cartels involved in fixing lending benchmarks

The European Commission suspects the existence of cartels involved in manipulating lending benchmarks such as Libor and Euribor, the EU's antitrust chief said in a speech on Friday.

Joaquin Almunia said that, in contrast with the approach taken in the United States, EU regulators would seek to deal with all suspected cartel participants together.
