Dow Ends At Record After Modest Gains

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at a record and the broader market closed with modest gains Tuesday. Investors have traded cautiously but the trend has been mostly higher, ahead of important policy meetings of the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve. U.S. stocks have been on an uptrend since Donald Trump's Nov. 8 Election Day win. The S&P 500 gained 7.52 points, or 0.3%, to 2,212.24, within a point of its all-time closing high, with financials leading gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 35.54 points, or 0.2%, to 19,251.78. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. rose 1.2%, contributing heavily to Dow gains. The Nasdaq Composite ended the session up 24.11 points, or 0.5%, at 5,333.00.
