Democrat joins GOP calls for Office of Personnel Management chief to resign after data breach

A Democrat who serves on the House Homeland Security Committee is calling for the head of the Office of Personnel Management to resign. The agency's data was breached last year in two massive cyberattacks that only recently were revealed.

Congressman James Langevin of Rhode Island says OPM chief Katherine Archuleta has failed to respond to serious deficiencies in OPM's cybersecurity set-up that have been known since at least 2007.

Archuleta faced withering criticism Tuesday from Democrats and Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee who accused the agency of gross negligence.

Langevin calls the agency's response to security problems "glacial" and says OPM only began seeking additional resources after a separate security breach last year.

Several Republicans have called for Archuleta to resign.
