Death Toll Rises To 30 After Massive London Apartment Fire

The death toll has risen to 30 from this week's massive fire at a London apartment tower that also left dozens injured, Metropolitan Police said Friday. More people are expected to be confirmed dead, said Metropolitan Police Commander Stuart Cundy at a press briefing. "The priority for all of us involved in the ongoing operation at Grenfell Tower is to recover and identify all the victims," said Cundy. Scotland Yard has opened a criminal investigation into the fire, as cladding panels such as those installed on the apartment building have reportedly been banned for use in the U.S. The fire broke out early Wednesday morning.
